Love is not Selfish...
We live in a world where it is normal to have low standards for ourselves to meet and high standards for our mate. Why? Because we are all selfish. Selfishness is truly the opposite of love. It is ingrained in every person from birth and the motive for most every sinful action. When you put your interests, desires, and priorities before your significant other, that's a sign of selfishness. When you constantly complain about how much time and energy you spend meeting a need of another, that is a sign of selfishness. 1
If ever there was a message so written directly for the day I needed it.
Today's reading would be it.
It is so easy to forget to do things out of love for others. It is so difficult to remember that every action you take reflects your desires in your relationships. I want to let go of my selfishness and start living my life in a way that reflects me putting my husband and children's needs as a priority. I need to start asking myself questions such as "Am I doing this for my own self-gain?" and "Do I truly have my family's best interests in mind by doing/saying/buying this?"

Ask yourself these questions:
- Do I truly want what's best for my family?
- Do I want them to feel loved by me?
- Do they believe I have their best interests in mind?
- Do they see me looking out for myself first?
- What can I do to change my selfish nature?
Challenge today: Whatever you put your time, energy, and money into will become more important to you. It's hard to care for something you are not investing in. Along with restraining from negative comments, buy your spouse something that says, "I was thinking of you today."
